Beauty Grootboom has set her heart on standing up and helping others. She has assisted within the community and has a soft spot for assisting the vulnerable and less fortunate.
On Tuesday, 15 March 2016, the team from Mkhondo FM joined Beauty in her great walk. Beauty saw the need to commemorate the mine workers that are trapped Beauty, near Barberton. The workers were stuck in a metal container when the ground on the surface of the mine collapsed and fell nearly a 100m last month. Up to date these 3 workers have still not been found. The team walked 8km on the gravel road that travels to the mine entrance gate. Moments of sadness filled the group that participated as they walked up the gravel road. Beauty felt the pain of the families, friends and colleagues of the victims and decided to stand up and carry their pain, by walking on behalf of them.
It was a peaceful assembly as they all gathered at the entrance gate to the mine. It’s not what you say, but it’s the way you say it. Beauty said, “the families and the victims need special support and this is my very own special way to say that I feel their pain”. Beauty has exceeded expectations and released comfort in her very own special way to the families of the mine victims. She observed moments of rest and peacefully carried her every stride with determination to finish her great walk. Each step was taken with heaviness in her heart, as she carried every moment of pain experienced by the victims and their loved ones. She would like to thank the SAPS and Mkhondo FM for all their support in her great walk.
