NCT Forestry Co-operative recently provided the children at Uzwelo Children’s home with new school clothes.
Each child at the home received a new school uniform, for which they are truly thankful. Uzwelo Home has been in partnership with NCT over the years and the management, staff and children at Uzwelo, would like to sincerely thank NCT, once again, for such a kind gesture.
May your continuous support and unselfish investing in Uzwelo Children’s Home, bear much fruit. Sewing lessons have been an option for interested children at the home, since 2013. The teacher, Mrs Susan Campbell, and the lessons are sponsored by Mpact while Bernina (Newcastle) donated the sewing machines. At Uzwelo, the same four-year course is followed as at the adult classes at Mpact. This year, four boys have enrolled for the sewing classes as well and they are achieving astonishing results.
The children apparently want to be able to mend their own clothes – sewing on buttons and doing hems and the like. On Friday afternoon, 4 March, the boys in the first year group were, however, already sewing a lady’s blouse after just a few months of weekly sewing classes. Boys, you and the other seamstresses are an inspiration to many, may your sewing open doors for you!
