Mr S.D Shabalala, a local farmer, from Ajax was sponsored with a JoJo tank to assist him to retrieve water from a borehole.
He was sponsored this tank with the assistance of Mr Mduduzi Ngwenya and the CWP Department of Piet Retief. With his farm situated in the heart of Ajax, Mr Shabalala found it difficult to keep his vegetable garden watered. He therefore approached the CWP department for assistance. His farm has not only assisted in job creation, but he has assisted within the community to supply water to his neighbours as well.
The tank does not only serve as a supplier for his vegetable garden, but it also supplies the surrounding members of his community with clean water. Mr Shabalala now has luscious, crisp, fresh vegetables to offer to his suppliers as he has access to water for the irrigation system he has placed in his garden. Mr Shabalala has used the facilities given to him for a great purpose, by adding to the agricultural growth of the economy as well as helping within his community. The water has nourished his vegetables and has played a vital role in supplying much needed supplements to those that don’t have it readily available.
