Conditions of Roads Deteriorating

Roads Deteriorating – The roads get fixed, and along comes the glorious much needed rain but with that goes the temporary fix that has been used to patch up our streets.

It’s a never ending circle. There seems to be no way of finding long term relief. For motorist of Piet Retief it is a nightmare to be driving on streets that have potholes as huge as their tyres. On some streets motorists have resorted to driving on the pavements to avoid using the damaged roads. Routine road maintenance should be carried out.

Proper equipment and material need to be used to do the job or it won’t be worth the time and effort placed into doing the maintenance. By letting the roads fall in disrepair, it forces people to buy 4×4 vehicles which will have a positive effect on the Motor Industry. Also, those that cannot afford 4×4’s, will have to have their vehicles repaired regularly. Yes, this might boost the economy, but is it the correct approach to get us there? When will this end and how are we going to change the way things are being done?
