Road Running News – “It’s the final countdown” Now only that final double checking remains: Just to make one hundred percent sure that all are set for the proverbial “on your marks, get set, go” Saturday at six when the TWK Assegaai 3-in-1 will take the road.
All three races will start at the rugby club from where the runners will move up to and past the high school, down Draad Street and along Von Brandis-, Olivierand Oost Street to Brand Street. From here they will head out of town towards Mahamba for some “real rural road running”. Those running the ten kilometre race will turn at the five kilometre mark and will therefore only visit the first two refreshment stations, TWK and Stucky Motors.
The participants in the half marathon will turn after 10,55 kilometres and will also experience the top of the range hospitality and excellent service of A van der Walt Inc, Voda-com and Tekwani. The marathoners will have to carry on and will only be allowed to make the u-turn back to town rather close to the Assegaai River. They will, however, be rewarded with the privilege to be welcomed, served and spoiled at the following further refreshment stations: Charka, Wheelers, Hino, P J Steelworx, TWK (once again) and FNB.
The respective entry fees are: Fun run: R20-00 Ten kilometre race: R50-00 Half Marathon: R100-00. Marathon: R150- 00. Those intended participants in any of the three races, who are not registered athletes yet, will still be welcome. You can simply buy a temporary licence at the additional cost of R25-00. For the fun run no licence is required. Die 2016 TWK Assegaai 3-in-1 maak juis deel uit van TWK, ons hoofborg se 75ste verjaardagviering. Laat waai, Assegaai!
