Supa Quick Challenge

Supa Quick Challenge – The business relay staged (or shall we rather say streeted) on Wednesday, 3 February, was indeed a busy business.

A late afternoon thunderstorm threatened to not only delay, but even derail the relay. In the end the rain that fell during the event only added to the excitement. The new format (four members per team each covering three kilometres, instead of five each covering four kilometres) clearly paid off. A record number of 44 teams participated. Men’s teams, ladies teams and mixed teams enjoyed the physical exercise, the fellowship, the fresh air and even the rain. Some ran for their lives, others jogged and others simply walked.

The bold, the beautiful and the bold and beautiful, all had tons of fun while music and refreshments added further value. The following teams won the respective trophies: Men – ES Chemicals, Ladies – Piet Retief High School Girls, Mixed – Dentless, Juniors – Supa Quick kids and the trophy for the best spirit went to Spur. Be that as it may, the superstar of the evening was no doubt “tante” Linda Breckwoldt, who, at the age of 84, briskly walked and completed the three kilometres. Her performance is likely to take many others to the next level. The proceeds will again be divided between Uzwelo Home and Huis Immergroen and all and sundry, especially Supa Quick, are thanked most sincerely for their various contributions.
