The Mkhondo Promotion Soccer League had a major kick off with the running leagues which are the Thandakukhanya Promotion League based in Piet Retief and the Ngema Dirkiesdorp Promotion League based in KwaNgema Trust and Mabola.
At the Ngema Dirkiesdorp Promotion League, Amapansula FC suffered their first loss and dropped points for the first time since the season started, after they were beaten 1-0 by Juventus FC, at the Ematafuleni Sports Ground. The top of the table clash between United Bros FC and Comet Riders FC, finished 0-0 leaving the clubs with 35 points each, separated only by a goal difference in stream A for the Thandakukhanya Promotion League. This match was played at Nkonjaneni Ground. The two clubs have played 13 matches each, with 11 wins and 2 draws. They played the first round match at Kwantombazana Ground which finished at 1-1.
The past weekend, the Thandakukhanya Promotion League stream B, between log leaders Total Football United FC against second placed player, Citizen FC, was played at the Kwantombazana Ground. The match entertained the fans, who came to enjoy the game on a warm Sunday afternoon, with the kind of football that fans like, complete with “shibobos” and goals. The match started at high pace with Citizen FC absorbing the pressure from the home side. The first chance at goal came as early as the 10th minute, when Citizen FC keeper made a great save from a Total Football striker. In the 28th minute Citizen FC conceded a corner, which led to the first goal of the match from the home side. Six minutes later Total Football United FC scored the 2nd goal to make the score 2-0 at half time.
The 2nd half produced the same entertainment at a slower pace which was controlled by the home side. The 3rd and final goal of the match, came in 5 minutes into the start of the 2nd half and helped Total Football FC to a 3-0 win, with four points clear at the top. In other matches Dofi Young Tigers FC moved to 2nd position on the log, after a 4-1 home win over Young Stars FC. In stream A Comet Riders FC and United Brothers FC are still neck and neck at the top, separated by goal difference having played 14 games, with 38 points each. Comet Riders FC beat rivals Amsterdam Blue Birds FC 5-1, to stay on top. United Brothers FC fought hard to defeat Liverpool FC by 2-0 on Sunday 24 January 2016. Thus, the soccer is up to a tremendously great start for 2016 with all teams pushing for a win.
