Matric Cycle Tour 2016

The Matric Cycle Tour is a tradition that was started in 1981 and still is thriving after 35 years was kicked off on Friday the 22nd of January by Mr Vince Aslett, kindly representing our proud sponsor Pick n Pay, alongside the matrics, fully kitted in their “ON FLEEK” T-shirts.

What makes this year’s event so memorable is the fact that this year produced the largest participation by any matric group so far. A total of 125 learners took part, 65 cyclists and 60 walkers including many of the brave teachers in excellent spirit. With 48 parents joining in to help the matrics finish the big pull – including tasks like keeping the learners hydrated, fed and making sure that no one was left behind, a huge thank you goes out to all the parents that helped make this day a huge success.

A much needed victory “braai” was held at the finish on the Stapelberg’s farm. A few of the learners and teachers were brave enough to endure the ride back home again, those of you that conquered this great feat – we salute you! The matric group of 2016 would like to especially send out a huge thank you to our grade mentor and organiser of this successful event, Mrs Serfontein. Our T-shirts may say “GAME OVER”, but actually this is only the start for the matric group of 2016.
