The roofs of quite a few buildings were blown off at Umlambo School by the wind that was experienced in eMkhondo on 26 November.
The Umlambo School is situated in the Thokozani Village, about 9 km from Amsterdam on the Nerston road. More than a thousand learners from grade R to grade 9 attend the school. On Thursday afternoon (26 November) the wind started blowing and eventually caused serious damages at the school, which apparently has no insurance.
Luckily all the learners and staff had left by the time that the wind lifted off the roofs of six of the seven blocks of classrooms and therefore no-one was injured. The electricity at the school was also disrupted as a result of the damages. Everyone is just thankful that there were no injuries.
