Relocation of Licensing Offices

Various rumours have been doing the round that services at the licensing offices and testing centre are to be temporarily discontinued.

According to a spokesperson from Mkhondo Municipality, they are indeed relocating the whole licensing and testing department, but all administrative services will be available at all times. In other words residents of Mkhondo can still apply for re-issuing of driver’s licences and vehicles can still be licensed as well. New applications for a booking for a driver’s or a learner’s licence will be temporarily unavailable though. A Municipal Notice from the Municipality appears in this week’s edition of the Excelsior News as well.

A spokesperson from the traffic department said that they are sorry for the inconvenience and that they will try to serve the community as best they can. The good news, though, is that work on the new site for the Licensing Offices, testing grounds, vehicle testing centre and more in Gerard Böhmer Road, has already started and residents can look forward to a streamlined and functional new centre in 2016.
