The SAPS of the Gert Sibande Region, Mpumalanga Province hosted a very successful market supplier consultation session on Wednesday, 16 September, at the Kempville Hall.
The SAPS is probably mostly seen as the police and only that – people who mostly take care of the public’s safety. How many people, however, realise or have ever given it a thought, that the SAPS, in order to function properly, need many service providers for all processes to be streamlined. The list of suppliers is endless: from diesel and garden services to computer consumables, heavy equipment, catering and many, many more. According to Monday Madonsela, the aim of the function was to recruit new suppliers and to renew relationships with current ones. These suppliers could either be registered or not. The registration process was explained to the latter.
These suppliers are to supply just about anything and come from around the whole of Gert Sibande. Ms Madonsela went on to say that an initiative like this could come in handy as a renovation process is taking place country-wide and stage two of the said renovation is already underway. Priority stations will obviously come first, though. On Wednesday the Kempville Hall was packed with approximately 200 suppliers and prospective suppliers alike. The attendees were informed about the relevant industry needs of the SAPS and all processes regarding registration, payments and so forth were explained. Everything was very well planned and organised and lovely plants ensured a calm and peaceful atmosphere in the hall. The speakers did a good job and all necessary forms were handed to suppliers for future use.
