Annual Spring Crowning

The girls and boys came to school at Piet Retief Primary School with extra enthusiasm on the last day of school on 2 October, as it was time for the annual spring crowning and the October recess!

Many of those who had entered the competition were hopeful to win one of the prizes and wouldn’t it have been wonderful if everyone could have won a prize. Girls were dressed in lovely colourful and flowery dresses and enjoyed modelling on the ramp and the boys made sure that they also looked very smart. The judges therefore really had a tough time to decide on the winners, but the winning boys and girls in each category were:

Zama (No.14) the proud winner of the girls (grade 1-3) looked like a little princess in her white dress and her cute smile must have stolen the judges’ hearts! Aaliyah (No.7) was the winner of the grade 4-6 category. She wore a pretty bright pink dress. In the grade 7 category the judges had such a tough job choosing a winner that they decided to announce runnersup as well this year.

Tâ-Lya (No.2) and Carey-Ann (No.11) were the runners-up and Silindile was chosen as queen of the day! The following boys were announced as winners: Sinakonke (grade 1-3), Vuyo (grade 4-6) and Sibongakonke (grade 7). Congratulations girls and boys! Thank you to all the learners for participating! Hopefully next year even more learners will be seen up on the stage to enjoy all the good fun!
