School children of Mlambo Combined School, situated in the Thokozani Village (Amsterdam), were anxiously waiting for school transport to school on Monday, 14 January 2019, without any success and the same situation presented itself again on Tuesday, 15 January.

According to Mr Bongani Dlamini, the children were transported by the Department of Education for the first week of 2019’s school year without any problems.

Complications seems to have commenced on Monday, 14 January, when the schoolbus passed these learners, without collecting them and also, without any valid reason. When the Excelsior News spoke to Mr Dlamini he was waiting at the Amsterdam Post Office with the children since 06:30 again on Tuesday morning and no bus arrived to take them to school.

On the same day, Mr Dlamini, together with some of the learners’ parents requested the assistance of a Department of Education representative to urgently address and resolve the matter, but at time of publication, the pupils still had to make alternative arrangements for school transport to and from their school. It was further stated that there is a bus travelling to various schools on the same route and that the bus is supposed to also collect these school’s learners.

The Excelsior News is awaiting feedback from Mr Dlamini regarding this matter and more information about the situation will be provided once it is received.
