Patricia Shando, Founder of Mkhondo House of Hope, had a dream of helping underprivileged individuals and this is exactly what she is currently doing.
On Friday, 12 October, she and some volunteers visited Salem School, approximately 9 kilometres outside of Piet Retief. The Mkhondo House of Hope handed out 150 toiletry parcels to grade 7-, 8- and 9-learners. The parcels contained towels, a toothbrush and –paste, lotion, soap, sanitary products and roll-on.
Patricia Shando mentioned that the grade 4-, 5- and 6-pupils also need toiletries and that she is planning to try and gather enough money to assist them as well. Other than reaching out to community schools, she also provides food to homeless people on a daily basis.
She enjoys helping lessfortunate people to set up sustainable gardens. The Mkhondo House of Hope organisation is currently in the process of registering as a non-profitable organisation as Patricia has been assisting individuals from her own pocket.
She is urging the community to take hands and also reach out to others. With the outreach to Salem School, Patricia Shando would like to thank Mr Bongani Khumalo, from Swaziland, the Upperroom Ministries team from Richardsbay in Mkhondo, Ndumiso Dlamini, Mr Mgezeni Xaba, Pastor Stembiso Mtshali and all the businesses who assisted her in her endeavour.
The organisation is planning to visit more schools and keep on assisting poverty struck communities. If you would like to be involved or need more information about Mkhondo House of Hope, please contact Patricia on 073 020 1245.
