Roadblock conducted by women
A briefing session were held before the roadblock commenced

To commemorate the end of Women’s Month (August), various entities at Mahamba Border Post, arranged a roadblock, which was conducted by females employed at the various departments, on the N2, between Pongola and Piet Retief.

On Friday, 31 August, approximately 20 representatives of Departments such as Home Affairs, Health, SARS and Agriculture joined forces with members of the Border SAPS at Mahamba, the SANDF (South African National Defence Force) and the PSA (Public Servants Association) members for the Roadblock. Border personnel of Mahamba, Emahlathini, Bothashoop, Mahamba and Nerston also assisted.

Together, they managed to achieve the following successes: One person was apprehended for driving an unlicensed vehicle. Four suspects were arrested for being in possession of about 5 kg of dagga and three illegal immigrants were also arrested.

One vehicle was seized after the driver could not present his driver’s licence. Well done to everyone for conducting this successful roadblock!
