On Saturday, 10 March 2018, men from various parts of Mkhondo joined forces in prayer during the Men’s Prayer Day, hosted in Iswepe.

This initiative all started with a farmer from Iswepe who envisioned a group of men praying in a valley, about 4 years ago. The farmer shared his vision with his church and the idea of a men’s prayer day was born. The event was organised and followed through by men from various congregations in and around Mkhondo, which led to the success of the day as each volunteer added a valuable asset towards the end result.

At around 11:00, the guests were welcomed by Pastor Simon Vilane and shortly after the opening, the men were addressed by Nomazinga Manzini about various aspects of men’s health. Johan Engelbrecht addressed the masses and gave a sermon about “A man after God’s heart”, which was followed by another sermon by a representative of the Magistrate’s Office, “A need for order”. Pastor Sifiso Phakati in turn spoke to the guests about “God’s blessing” and Pastor Sipho Nhleko gave an insightful speech on “Restoring the fathers to the sons”. Pastor Phillip Nobela and Pastor Sifiso Phakati discussed matters such as “Sharing” and “Master of Ceremonies”.

During the event, a worship band was keeping the audience entertained and everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. An estimate of about 500 guests attended the Men’s Prayer Day and another event will be planned for the future where the organisers are planning to reach 5 000 men from Mkhondo. Thank you to everyone’s involvement and for contributing to the success of this event. May there be many more!
