Die gholf self is net so baie geniet. Daar was selfs ‘n spitbraai langs een “watergat”. Praat van bederf! Two extraordinarily smart and large prizes were up for grabs for hole in one’s being played at two different short holes. At the first, on no. 7, a Toyota Etios could be won.

The Etios was sponsored by NTT Toyota and At Moolman Brokers in Vryheid. At the second short hole, no. 13, a TLB back actor, sponsored by Kemach JCB, was the big prize. Unfortunately no-one succeeded in securing these two prizes. Beneficiaries include, inter alia MARC, Thea, Hope for Henno, Fontana Hope Project, CMR, Louis Hildebrand Children’s Home, Uzwelo Children’s Home, Rustplaas Dog Shelter, Hus Immergroen, Thobani Thabalala (Development Cycles) and Anika Benade from Vryheid. Except for the charities that are beneficiaries of the golf day, players on the day went home with super prizes, thanks to unselfish and open handed donors and sponsors.

Prize winners were the following:

  • Longest drive (Men no 9/18 on Friday) – G. Foster. (No lady on Friday for this prize).
  • Nearest to pin no. 4/13 (Men and ladies on Friday) – P.C. Cilliers.
  • Nearest to pin no. 7/16 (Men and ladies on Friday) – P.C. Cilliers.
  • Longest drive no. 9/18 (Men on Saturday) – J. Botha.
  • Longest drive no. 9/18 (Ladies on Saturday) – K. Bekker.
  • Nearest to pin no. 4/13 (Men and ladies on Saturday) – M. Mtshali.
  • Nearest to pin no. 7/16 (Men and ladies on Saturday) – F. Greef.

The first four winning teams, all with scores of 105, on a count out, were:

  1. 3C Transport
  2. H & R Civils
  3.  Mpact
  4. Inyanga Motors

Congratulations to all of you! Thank you, Vryheid Golf Club, for hosting the golf day this year. A big thank you, once again, to all who contributed to the success of the day, in any way whatsoever. Dankie! Sien julle volgende jaar in Piet Retief!
