These Men Set an Example – Some people work hard during long weekends in order to make life easier for others.
It was Friday evening – the beginning of a super, long weekend and everyone was looking forward to some leisure and real relaxation. When relaxing on the veranda in the cool evening, after a very hard week, a whiff of a bad odour was carried to one’s nostrils on the breeze … What on earth could smell so terrible? Investigation in the dark, after a cat fight had been heard in the garden, revealed the area where the stench seemed to be coming from. Although the smell got stronger one could not determine the origin thereof, it simply was too dark.
Come Saturday morning, the secret was solved: the smell came from an overflowing sewerage drain in one corner of the yard, one of a few on a main line. What was to be done? It was early on a Saturday morning in the middle of a long weekend …
The above is no imaginary tale but a true story that happened during the past long weekend. Thanks to Irene Brussow and Henk Nel, Jameson from the Mkhondo Municipality could be contacted. Jameson went all out of his way and was very cooperative and patient. Although it took some time before the workers arrived at the scene (they had been fixing other problems in another area), they quickly sorted the problem out. In a jiffy the drain was opened and unblocked. Professional work was done by the guys and the best of all was that they did it all with smiles on their faces! Thank you!
Maybe we should try to follow their example. A smile on your face, even when your circumstances are not all that easy, makes life so much easier for you and the people around you. It is really worth a try.
