“Been there/ done that and even got a T-shirt and a cap to show.” The grade 3 learners at the Piet Retief Primary School had the annual grade 3 tour to Durban from 18 to 20 November.

“On Wednesday the 18th of November, we had an early start but it was definitely worth it as we were on the way to Durban for our grade 3 tour! When we got off the bus, we went to Durban beach. It was so much fun to swim in the sea, building sand castles and looking for sea shells. After the beach outing, we went to Gateway Mall to play some games. It was very exciting to go on the “rides”. The next day we had to wake up early to go to Ushaka to look at the fish. We had so much fun at the aquarium.

We watched the dolphin show and they did so many tricks. We had a lot of fun on the “rides”. The scariest ride for me was the anaconda. That night we had a treasure hunt around the aquarium. It was so scary because the one clue was next to the shark tank. Our wonderful grade 3 tour came to an end with a boat cruise around Durban harbour. I had the best time and would like to thank all the teachers for organising an amazing trip and I will keep those memories with me forever”. (Kate Bekker – grade 3EMR).

Die toer was groot pret! Thank you very much to Mr Roodt, Mr Alex J. van Vuuren and Mr Japie J. van Vuuren for driving the learners safely to Durban and back.

The grade 3 teachers would like to thank the sponsors for their contributions towards the tour: Mr and Mrs McManus (Nissan), Werner Kleynhans (Pick ‘n Pay), Charka, CMR and the sponsors of the beautiful t-shirts. The children looked great in their sponsored shirts and caps. The teachers say that it is a privilege to be part of a society who really cares a lot. Learners and teachers alike will never forget “Pieties@Durban” 2015!
