Trucks on the Amsterdam road still seem to be a problem or at least face difficulties.
In the early hours of the morning of Thursday, 10 September, a large truck overturned and off-loaded its total load of board. The accident happened shortly before 05:00 but the reason for the accident is not clear at this stage. The truck was travelling in the direction of Amsterdam when it overturned in the curve on the downward slope towards the Skurwerandjies bridge. The road had to be closed for more than an hour as a clean-up team had to get rid of diesel that had leaked onto the road. The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries during the incident.
On Saturday, 12 September, the driver of a BMW had to be cut from his vehicle after it had collided with a bakkie. It is not clear how the accident occurred but it happened at about half past nine in the evening on the Wakkerstroom road. The BMW was travelling towards Volksrust at the time of the accident and it seems a possibility that the bakkie turned into the road in front of the BMW. Fortunately, no-one was seriously injured in this accident.
A Toyota Venture transporting children and young people to or from church was involved in an accident on the Wittenberg road on Sunday, 13 September. For some or other unknown reason, it left the road and according to tyre marks alongside the road, travelled next to the road for quite a long way before turning over in a ditch. One person was injured quite seriously and two sustained light injuries.
